School Tours
Museum staff or Gallery Educators guide school and youth group tours. Classes are divided into groups of about 15 students to facilitate more intimate interaction in the galleries. Our programs have been aligned with State Standards and are adapted to meet the specific needs, interests, and backgrounds of your group. We are happy to discuss the tours with you in depth prior to your visit to the Museum.
Fees
The weekday fee for a school or youth group visits is $75 per group of up to 30 students and three chaperones. On Sundays, the fee for all school and youth groups is $7 per person. We are able to reduce or waive admission fees and provide transportation for groups in need.
Payment
Due to the high demand for group visits, full payment by check or credit card must be made no less than three weeks prior to your visit. A letter of confirmation and detailed instructions will be sent to you upon receipt of payment. Group visits that are cancelled less than three weeks in advance cannot be refunded. Should you have to cancel your tour at the last minute due to an emergency, we will do our best to reschedule your visit.
Arrival
All Museum visitors must go through security. Therefore we strongly recommend that you arrive at least fifteen minutes prior to your scheduled Museum entry time to allow for check-in. Late arrivals will be admitted at the discretion of the Museum staff.
Chaperones
Please speak to your class about appropriate Museum behavior prior to your visit. You should have one adult chaperone for every ten students in your group. We rely on the cooperation of chaperones to maintain appropriate behavior and keep students together as they move through the exhibition. Please make sure that all adults accompanying your group are aware of their responsibilities.
Lunch
The Museum has limited dining facilities. Boxed lunches are available for purchase only in advance through Foremost's catering services. If you wish to bring bag lunches, inform us in advance and we will discuss dining facilities. In good weather, we encourage you to take advantage of our beautiful Battery Park City location.
Accessibility
The Museum is accessible to people with disabilities. Please tell us about special needs when making your reservation.
