Coordinator, FASPE

This position reports to the Manager International Programs and the Deputy Director. It is a part time (20 hours per week) position for the 2010 calendar year.

The Fellowships at Auschwitz for the Study of Professional Ethics (FASPE) is an innovative program for students in professional schools designed to address contemporary ethical issues through a unique historical context. The Fellowships provide law, medical, business, journalism, and seminary students a structured program of study that initially focuses on the role of their chosen professions in Nazi Germany and the Holocaust and then uses that historic focus as a framework for the consideration of contemporary ethical issues.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Manager with the development of the Fellowships at Auschwitz for the Study of Professional Ethics including communication with national and international program partners and consultants, organizing and analyzing recruitment efforts, and developing program materials.
  • Assist the Manager with coordinating the logistics of the travel, room and board, meals, and other needs of the student groups during planning of summer 2010 programs.
  • Assist with Development activities including researching prospects, drafting grants, and planning of a possible Germany-Poland mission for summer 2010.
  • Possible travel to Germany and Poland in summer 2010 with FASPE programs.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, Jewish/Holocaust history, or related field and experience with ethics, professional development, or experiential education.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills – German or Polish language skills a plus.
  • Program coordination experience – student group management experience a plus.
  • Proven ability to work closely and comfortably with others, including traveling with groups.
  • Development experience – grant writing or donor relations – a plus.
  • Excellent computer skills – knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook and Internet search/booking ability.
  • Availability to travel – working occasional evenings and weekends.
